Abstract: This article is the result of postdoctoral research in African History (2016-2017). It aims to discuss possibilities of epistemological intervention in African History through of a specific case of intervention: the implementation of the Degree in African and Afro-Brazilian Studies (UFMA), unprecedented course in Brazil. It analyzes their contributions to the teaching of African and Afro-Brazilian Histories and Cultures. It studies the intentionality and curricular propositions that underlie the pedagogical proposal of this Degree, which recognizes the African contributions in the Brazilian social formation, without romanticism or stereotypes, and collaborates in the attempt to develop new epistemological perspectives.
