An analysis about problems in relations between public and private spheres in the field of theory and discoveries regarding the historic evolution of Brazil. Apart from general aspects, the practice of nepotism - hiring family members for public jobs without any eliminatory testing - is specifically looked at as a permanent trait of traditions that are both patrimonialist and clientelist and part of the running of the Brazilian State. Even considering certain strong advances in legislation, these things continue to make their mark on Brazilian society, in structural terms in the privatization of state structures. Nepotism is perpetrated and it is growing in all of its dimensions despite the great efforts of civil society to try to stop it. The work concludes from the perspective of the overcoming of the practice of nepotism in the conduct of public servants in the three spheres of administration, in a clear definition of the limits and functions of the public and private spheres in the national context and in the direction of a needed and pressing republicanisation of the state in the sense of a constitution of a transparent and democratic public sphere in Brazil.Downloads
