Abstract: The case study HISTORY, MEMORIES, ORALITIES, CULTURE AND ARTS IN THE BAIXADA MARANHENSE sought to analyze through the memories, oralities and arts (music and popular manifestations) the production of artists, masters and popular culture groups in the municipalities of Baixada Maranhense: Pinheiro, São Bento, Santa Helena, as well as Presidente Sarney. Through ethnographic research and the use of an oral history methodology, we sought to catalog existing masters and popular culture groups as well as those that do not exist, but have been registered by the filters of memory. The research fostered academic production, as well as stimulated public managers to consider the cultural mapping of their municipalities. Thus, it is worth noting that oral history, through Portelli (1997), has been established as a theoretical and methodological reference that guided this study, just like Benjamin (1994), Farias Filho (2013), Khoury (2010), Lopes (2004), Ortiz (2010), among others, also constituted fundamental references for the investigation of this work.
