Abstract

Abstract: Based on the “Historiography of Diseases”, we analyze the Spanish Flu pandemic in Ceará, focused on the Cariri region. The influenza has aroused the attention of Brazilian historians in recent decades. However, research ends up privileging capitals and large cities, discoursing very little on the action of this epidemic in the country’s interior. Through parish registers, newspapers, reports of memoirs, official documents and other sources, we aim to shed light on the sertão cearense during the macabre performance of the “dancer”.
