Abstract

This article aims to analyze the images produced for Brasília magazine, one of the main divulgation media for the building of the country's new capital. In the midst of an intense context of criticism of the great constructions of the period, Brasília displayed an official, positive and modern look on that region. Produced by the main photojournalists of the time, the photographs bring perspectives that are characteristic of the JK years’ neobandeirismo movement. In those photographs, the urban-industrial pattern had become a sign of development, as opposed to the idea of delay, which was associated to a sertão idealized by the political agents of the time.
