Abstract

Abstract: The article analyzes the immigration of Portuguese women to state of Pará between the first half of nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century observing the flow of this migration, the reemigration, the age profile, marital status and origin, as well as the social networks. The work evidences the increase in the female presence in the migratory flow in the first three decades of the twentieth century, marked by young and single women from the Portuguese North, working as maids following the steps given by a relative. The documents used for the analysis were Passport records and the Consular Habilitations.
