CIDADE E MEMÓRIA : "cidades invisíveis"

Abstract

As a researcher of the Universidade Federal of Piauí of the CNPq research group City, time and space and as coordinator of the Oral History Center of UFPI, I have developed, in the past ten years, researches that set thematic linked to Teresina city, particularly, and linked to the city as a whole, as well as oriented student of graduation and pos-graduation who have the city as a theme of their papers. Discussing city I have used the Oral History methodology, constructing sources, because this methodology permits to amplify the fan of information, placing, into the history, social characters who were forgotten or silenced in the modernization process of the cities. This article dialogues with the cities that are in memories of our interviewees, cities with temporalities and spaces well defined. In the construction of this historical narrative we based ourselves in discussions about the relation between history and memory that the Brazilian historical production did in the past years, as well as the discussions about city. The result of this mixture is a city that belongs to the immaterial world.
