Abstract

It is approach processes of invention and reinvention of the maranhensity, showing that, between the decades of 40 and 50 of XX century, the Brazilian Athens myth is reupdated, the Maranhão and the maranhense are meanings for subjects and felts of that imaginary construction: new letters reflected of old images and transformed in revelations of the maranhensity.
