Abstract

This study has as purpose to document the problem of the freedom in Maquiavel and Hobbes. The choice for that problem epistemológico based on the importance that this two thinkers of the modern politics exercised and they continue to exercise in the modernity and in the contemporaneidade. The study becomes separated in the following parts: 1. it tries to show the two thinkers' characteristics; 2. the concept of freedom in Hobbes; 3. the understanding of freedom in Maquiavel.
