“QUESTÕES DE HONRA”: SEXUALIDADE FEMININA E SOCIEDADE EM SÃO LUÍS NA VIRADA DO SÉCULO

Abstract

Study on feminine honor in São Luís in the turn of the XIX century to the XX century, showing how society related women’s sexual honesty to the values of family and social morality. The analysis will focus on the cases of deflorations and rapes practised against womem of lower classes, considering the biggest amount of police records regairding this segment of womem, once they did not posess other mediators but law and public power to help them to repair the offenses that were suffered.
