Abstract

This work discusses elements concerning the criminality as mechanism of slave resistance in the city of São Luís of Maranhão among the years of 1860 – 1880. Resistance this that could assume multiple expression forms. The research counted with primary sources, mainly, Newspapers of the time, as the Publisher From Maranhão, Solemnities of Questions, Book of the Crimes and Notable Factos, Codes of Postures.
