TRADIÇÕES HISTORIOGRÁFICAS NO MARANHÃO

Abstract

It analyses Historiography as a fomenter element of traditions that present themselves as interpreters of the social reality of Maranhão. It shows from a few examples, how some authors have become ‘classics’ throughout Maranhão History, therefore, indispensable as a point of inflection to comprehend a determined period of time or thematic in History. It discusses the narrative character of historiography, its difficulties and derivations. It points out new routs of Historical research in Maranhão.
