Abstract

The article covers the history of the expansion of Imperatriz school with emphasis on analysis of the spatial distribution of schools within that city, exploiting information about the schools and their teachers first letters in the second half of the nineteenth century, and on isolated schools, meeting and school group, created in the first half of the twentieth century. Emphasizes the process and characteristics of expansion of public primary education system that begins in the 1950s, as a result of the national policy of expansion of primary school, when isolated rural schools or subsidiary will function beyond the headquarters of municipalities reaching the villages.
