O NATURAL E O SOBRENATURAL: Aspectos da religião de dois Povos Indígenas

Abstract

From an inquiry by Thevet, in the 16th century, about the presence or absence of religion among the Brazilian indigenous, this text intends to discuss the religious thought and the current ritual practice of those populations; more precisely, focusing two indigenous peoples from Maranhão: Tenetehara and Krikati. It aims to show that the absence of temples and priests, for that purpose, is not a "lack" but, concerning those societies, a way of being and of insertion in the world.
