Nísia Floresta has developed an important work as an educator and writer in Rio de Janeiro Imperial.His pioneering work in founding a college for girls, the level of the best male colleges of the Court, and his writing to pose as the forerunner of feminist ideals in Brazil. At time most women were illiterate, was a bluestocking. Nísia that militating for women!s right to acess to education. These militant were present in his work, a fact which caused discomfort in a patriarchal society in which he lived. These reflections contribute to delineate the profile of women in Rio de Janeiro in the nineteenth century.
