Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • - I declare that the article submitted is my authorship.
    - I confirm that I am a doctor or doctoral student (for the authorship of articles, dossiers and case studies) and, at minimum, a master's student (for the authorship of reviews).
    - I certify that the submitted article is not being evaluated by another journal.
    - I confirm that the submitted text is in .doc or docx. format, compatible with Word, and that I am following all the guidelines contained in the Guidelines for Authors.
    - I confirm that I have an ORCID number.
    - I confirm that I have not published an article in Revista Outro Tempos in the last 3 years.
    - I confirm that this is NOT co-authorship between Advisor and Student resulting from a Master's Dissertation or Doctoral Thesis.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

(Effective as of March 2021)

TEMPLATE FOR ARTICLES AND REVIEWS

Submitted contributions must meet the following standards:

  1. Texts, without author identification, must be formatted: Word for Windows editor or higher, Times New Roman font, size 12 and 1.5-line spacing, justified alignment.
  2. Articles can be written in Portuguese, English or Spanish, and must contain a minimum of fifteen (15) and a maximum of thirty (30) pages. The texts must present: Title in uppercase and italics, subtitle in regular case; title in English, Spanish or French (or Portuguese, if applicable); abstract (maximum 150 words); keywords (03); text.
  3. Abstracts must be in Times New Roman font, font 11, in Portuguese, English, Spanish or French.
  4. Texts must have undergone a rigorous spelling and grammar review. Otherwise, the Editorial Board may reject it.
  5. Texts must have margins of 3 cm (top and left) and 2 cm (bottom and right).
  6. Spacing between paragraphs must be 2 cm.
  7. Direct quotes with more than 3 lines must be highlighted, with a 4 cm indent, without quotation marks and font 11.
  8. Bibliographic references must appear in the body of the text, following the author-date system. Examples: (PEREIRA, 2020, p. 15); (PEREIRA, 2020, p. 15-16).
  9. Footnotes must have a strictly explanatory character, and must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals. Notes appear at the end of each page, in regular Timer New Roman font, size 10, single line spacing, justified.
  10. At the end of the text, complete bibliographic references must be listed in alphabetical order. Only references used in the text should be listed.
  11. References to documentary sources must be fully informed, both in footnotes and listed at the end of the article.
  12. Articles and case studies by doctors and doctoral students, and reviews by doctors, doctoral students, masters and master's students will be accepted. Only case studies and reviews linked to the thematic dossier will be accepted. The Editorial Board may also promote the commissioning of reviews on different topics..

Space destined to Brazilian and foreign researchers dedicated to historical research and related areas. The proposal is enabling that Outros Tempos brings renowned researchers closer to its target audience.

Reviews

Space dedicated to the dissemination of recent contributions to historical knowledge, through summaries of books published in Portuguese or in a foreign language..
